Dr. Wan grew up in the Midwest before moving to Southern California.  She attended UC-Berkeley, then received her medical degree from the University of Southern California.  She trained at UCSF-East Bay for general surgery, University of Michigan for cardiothoracic surgery, and Mayo Clinic for cardiovascular surgery.  She is board certified in cardiac and thoracic surgery.  She was in practice at Kaiser in Northern California for six years.

In addition to practicing cardiac surgery for coronary artery disease and cardiac valve disorders, she has extensive expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgery.    She specializes in minimally invasive approaches to lung and esophagus.  Dr. Wan performs robot and thoracoscopic surgery for lung cancer, lung nodules and mediastinal masses.  She is also experienced in laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures for esophageal and stomach disorders such as hiatal hernia, gastroesophageal reflux, achalasia, esophageal diverticula and esophageal cancer.

Prior to coming to Ventura, she founded and co-chaired a thoracic tumor board and high-risk lung nodule committee and was part of a team that implemented a lung cancer screening program. She enjoys the multidisciplinary work up of thoracic tumors and cardiac disease. She loves talking with patients and their families, and working closely with referring doctors.
